Past Flame Award Winners
Vico Sharabani (2013)

As one of the industry’s leading experts in visual effects and technology, The-Artery Founder and ECD/Director Vico Sharabani boasts an extensive multi-decade career spanning feature films, episodic TV, and branded content. His accomplishments include technical feats such as creating the first-ever 360-degree video display at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA as well as leading VFX teams responsible for countless award-winning features such as Marriage Story (2019), The Lighthouse (2019), The Farewell (2019), Midsommar (2019), and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) to name a few. In addition to his work in film, Vico is responsible for spearheading short-form narratives for global brands including Pepsi, Under Armour, Verizon, Skyworth, Huawei, Stella Artois and Voltaren starring Grammy and Emmy award-winning superstar Paula Abdul. A frequent speaker at TED events, Vico is the recipient of the first ever Autodesk Flame Award.

James Sénade (2014)

James Sénade, Co-Founder of Saint George Studio in Paris, is an amazing Flame Artist and VFX Creative Director whose work speaks for itself. He combines artistry and technical skill to create the MOST beautiful images for a wide variety of projects - from luxury and high-end items like perfume, liquor, and clothing, to car ads and experimental fashion film. The beauty of his visuals is inspiring. James makes beautiful images, working with what he has been given and by adding his own elements to increase the visual impact. His images speak a thousand words and many of his clients come back to him over and over again. "With Saint George Studio (Flame centric VFX boutique), since our creation, we have delivered high-end fashion and beauty works and all the post production services, with an unrivalled reputation in 360/VR world.”

Ivar Beer (2016)

Ivar Beer took on several roles throughout his career, several of which have been at CinePostproduction Geyer Berlin. There, he was a Flame artist for over 4 years, performing all kinds of trailer and VFX work. For the following 8 years, Ivar was Head of Digital Production and helped design COPRA before becoming a Product Designer for their iPhone/IPad version. Ivar was also a Matchbox Shader Developer, converting GLSL shaders to Matchox. In this way, Ivar shared many useful shaders with the larger Flame community. A great example is his Lightwrap and Depth of Field Matchbox shader.

Mihran Stepanyan (2017)

Mihran Stepanyan is a director, cinematographer and VFX artist from Armenia. Owner and founder of One Man Studio Production, Mihran created several music videos, commercials and feature films as a director, producer, cinematographer and post production supervisor. He is a self-taught Flame artist of about 7 years and has been working in the advertising and entertainment industries for over 17 years.

Duncan Malcolm (2019)

Duncan Malcolm has been working in production and post for over 33 years, the past 20 on Autodesk Flame as his main tool of choice. Duncan works closely with Glassworks’ CG artists to seamlessly blend CG photoreal assets and real world environments for high end commercial clients. Alongside his work in commericals, Duncan has worked closely with the creators of the television series “Black Mirror” on look development and compositing for the award-winning Netflix series, including the critically acclaimed Bandersnatch interactive episode.

Renée Tymn (2021)

Renée Tymn is an accomplished Flame artist and owner of Digital Banshee Inc. During her 25-year career in film and television, Renée has collaborated with top post-production houses and advertising agencies. Her expertise earned her an Emmy, PromaxBDA awards, and credits on several Oscar-winning films. She is a member of the VES and is active in the Logik community. Renée is always looking for ways to elevate women in the industry and enjoys supporting artists through mentorship, portfolio reviews, and presentations.
